Agency Information

The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is seeking a qualified and committed healthcare administrator for the position of Superintendent of the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil, Washington, a community directly across Puget Sound - an hour's ferry ride - from Seattle. CANDIDATES MUST BE U.S. MILITARY VETERANS.

COMPENSATION

This position serves at the pleasure of the Agency Director. Compensation falls within Exempt Management Services 4 with a salary range of $84,000 to $91,000 depending upon qualifications. Washington State offers a generous benefits package including medical/dental, retirement, life and disability insurance, optional deferred compensation, and paid holidays as well as vacation and sick leave.

AGENCY PROFILE

The vision of WDVA is to honor Washington military veterans and their families by serving as their advocate for all VA entitlements, helping to heal the seen and unseen wounds of war, giving help to homeless veterans, providing quality care in the state's Veterans Homes and honoring veterans in their final resting place.

Washington Veterans Home, the longest running facility with its recent $47 million update and expansion has attracted attention from around the nation. This state of the art facility is operated under a "Resident Centered Care" concept that focuses resources around the individual resident. All primary services are available within a forty-bed "neighborhood".  The Home serves more than 292 residents needing both skilled nursing and light nursing care.

The facility is located on a beautiful campus overlooking Sinclair Inlet near the small town of Port Orchard, Washington.  The area has a rural flavor; however, it is close to all services. Real estate prices and housing costs are reasonable and the quality of life generally is difficult to imagine before actually spending time in the area.  For more information visit our website at www.dva.wa.gov
