Clerical Office Assistant II - Bilingual (English/Spanish) $16.03 - $19.48 / hour + bilingual premium pay
This recruitment is being conducted to fill one Full-Time Bilingual vacancy in the Human Services Department. Fluent (reading, writing, conversation) English/Spanish is required for this position. Applicants who do not indicate they possess this skill will not be considered for this recruitment. An examination will be conducted prior to employment to confirm level of skill in this area. Bilingual premium pay is $.90 cents/hour.
The Office Assistant II performs a variety of general and/or specialized office support activities related to filing, reception, form processing, record maintenance, mail handling, personal computer operation and typing. This position obtains and conveys information related to department records, programs and services; works with department staff and the public, and performs related duties. An Office Assistant II's duties may include training new employees (Office Assistant Trainees, Office Assistant I, interns, volunteers, etc.) in the technical or mechanical aspects of their jobs. For example, an Office Assistant II may instruct others on how to use specific computer programs, find various office materials or files, use telephone or switchboard equipment or perform work generally assigned to the incumbent’s desk (for coverage during absences). This direction/orientation is not lead work or supervision and does not require the signing of performance evaluations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience: Any combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. Normally, one year experience as an Office Assistant I with the County or one year of work experience in an office environment will provide this opportunity. Special Skill Assignment: Some positions may require the ability to type at a corrected speed of 45 words per minute. All positions require considerable ability to operate a personal computer and multiple software. Some positions may require the ability to communicate in a language other than English.
