GENERAL INFORMATION

The Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) is seeking an Office Specialist 1. This is a full-time, permanent position, located in Tigard. 

 

This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU)/Oregon Public Employees Union (OPEU).

 

This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified people, which may be used to fill both permanent and limited duration vacancies as they occur in various sections of the Agency.

If selected for the position, you must provide documentation of your eligibility to work in the United States. Applicants will be subject to a Computerized Criminal History for a thorough background investigation. Adverse background data may be grounds for immediate disqualification. TO QUALIFY

Your PD100 application form and resume (optional) will be reviewed to verify that you meet the qualifications stated in this section (be specific in describing your experience).  To receive credit, your application form must clearly show that you have:

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of courses or training in Office Technology; OR

One year of general clerical experience which included typing, word processing, or other generation of documents; OR

An equivalent combination of training and experience.

PURPOSE

Provide clerical support, answer phones, and process mail for divorce unit.

 

MAIN DUTIES

Answer telephones and respond to inquiries regarding divorce decree administration, providing basic eligibility information and plan requirements.

 

Review, sort, prioritize, and deliver daily mail.

 

Perform daily computer directory updates to log in daily work and daily work completed.

 

Perform miscellaneous photocopying.

 

Create general correspondence; send standard correspondence and acknowledgments; mail informational material upon request.

 

Request from and submit documents to the microfilm index system.

 

Assist counselors by maintaining a calendar of items, proofreading and mailing letters and other duties as assigned for projects.

 

Maintain statistical reports to measure workflow and service levels for daily work and special projects.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Typical smoke-free office setting. Occasionally necessary to deal with irate members on the phone and in person. Work subject to interruptions. Essential job duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
