GENERAL SUMMARY: Position is on the research staff of a not-for-profit government consulting organization headquartered in McLean, VA. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Essential Job Functions) Responsible for analyzing and simulating complex operations such as the air transportation system and military supply chains. Initial duties include: Analyze current air traffic operations and assess the safety of current and future concepts Specify benefit mechanisms for evaluating changes in procedures or technology and analyze the impacts of technology investments in the air transportation system by developing and operate queuing models of the National Airspace System Simulate military supply chains using a variety of approaches, including agent-based modeling. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team composed of LMI analysts and government employees. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Graduate degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Economics, or similar discipline. Should be familiar with queuing and network models, simulation, systems dynamics methods, and optimization. Must be able to collaborate with others, communicate complex analyses verbally and in writing, and develop innovative approaches to solving technical challenges.Must be available for occasional travel.Applicants selected for this position may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
