Planning Technician
Position Summary:
Performs spatial & analysis relating to land use, population and social & economic characteristics of the City using GIS and CAD (Microstation) software.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Directly supervises & monitors day-to-day GIS/CAD functions for the Planning Department.
Prepares & updates subdivision & zoning maps using GIS & CAD (Microstation) software. Prepares sketches of proposed plats, zonings, vacations, dedications, annexations, land use, etc., for preparation during Planning & Zoning Commision & City Commision meetings.
Assists in prepartion of planning-related informational material.
Education, Training, Experience & Licenses/Certifications/Registrations Required:
Bachelor's Degree in geography, earth science, computer science, construction science or related field (preferred).
One to 3 years practical CAD/GIS background (practical experience in CAD/GIS field may substitute for degree requirements) (required).
Must display effective verbal & written communication skills.
Must maintain effective working relationships with co-workers & the general public.
Valid Texas Driver's License (required) or ability to obtain upon being hired.
