Programmer

The Homeland Protection and Preparedness Business Unit is seeking a Programmer to support the FOCIS Division in Abingdon, MD. Job Description: Implement n-tiered, client-server-database applications with World Wide Web technologies. Use object-oriented design, development, and test tools to meet rapidly changing customer requirements within an incremental implementation methodology that makes extensive use of prototyping and component reuse. In addition to developing object oriented computer applications, the candidate will provide analysis, design, modeling, programming, prototyping, testing, documentation and implementation of new computer applications and releases of existing applications. The position requires experience in delivering software for highly scalable, enterprise-wide applications. Due to Federal contracts regulations, US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Alien status is required. Education: BS in computer science, other engineering, or other scientific field. 4+ years of experience in object-oriented implementation, .NET, and Internet-based client-server-database technologies. Required Skills: The nature of the team's dynamics will require an individual that is able to work closely in a collaborative role with other team members. Strong interpersonal skills are also required for interfacing with client representatives, internal customers and vendor representatives. Applicants will be required to demonstrate superior management and communication skills in all of the following areas: (1) Development and implementation of complex web-based client- SQL server database management systems; (2) Evaluation of workflow and business operations to identify opportunities for automation; (3) Preparation of clear and concise user manuals and system documentation. The successful candidate must demonstrate: -Experience with data-centric .NET web development integrating both server side code and client-side scripting -Efficiency in C# and at least two of the following additional languages: Transact SQL; XML; Java Script -Willingness and ability to integrate, share, and stretch their current skill base.
