Chugach Industries, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Chugach Alaska Corporation, has a long-term facilities management contract at the Picatinny Arsenal in Morris County, NJ. We currently have over 200 full time employees and we are responsible for managing Public Works, Logistics, IT, Safety and Health and Environmental Services.
Summary/General Description of Job:
Serves as the Manager of the Public Works Department and is responsible for the effective management and supervision of assigned employees, tools, equipment and other resources in the accomplishment of contract requirements.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
· Exercises supervision over all craft shops and assigned crafts persons.
·Accomplishes work in accordance with authorized Corrective Maintenance (CM) Work Orders, Preventive Maintenance, and Standing Operating Orders. Complies with work schedules and contract requirements for response and performance. Provides Work Order feedback in accordance with established procedures.
·Inspects work in progress and completed work to ensure accomplishment in most effective and efficient manner. Interfaces with other Branches, customers and Government representatives as required to achieve maximum productivity.
· Monitors work to ensure cost control (including minimization of overtime/lost time), effective use of tools, equipment, and materials, scope (including the documentation of changes to support job amendments), and the quality of work performed.
· Seeks to improve service to the customer at reduced cost.
· Makes suggestions related to improving procedures, methods, technology, tools and equipment, and human resources to achieve improved productivity, quality and cost performance.
· Investigates problems with equipment operation, maintenance and breakdown to determine root cause.
· Recommends changes to operations and maintenance (O&M) procedures to deficiencies.
·Controls tools, equipment, materials and vehicles to ensure inventory control, effective utilization, safe and proper operation, cleanliness, and cost effectiveness.
·Turns in excess, damaged or unserviceable items in accordance with current procedures.
· Directs snow removal operations
· May perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements (Education, Skills & Experience):
Mandatory
· US Citizenship
·Ten years direct experience in a minimum of one supervised craft with working knowledge of two other applicable craft skills.
·Must have demonstrated ability to effectively supervise multiple crafts, operational utility systems and assigned resources (equipment, material and personnel).
· Prior experience as a first line supervisor is required.
· Must possess good communication skills (verbal, written, listening).
· Must have a High School Diploma, college graduate preferred.
· Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
· Subject to background check.
Preferred:
· Bachelor's Degree in related field.
· Government or military Public Works management experience.
