ODOT develops programs related to Oregon’s system of highways, roads, and bridges; railways; public transportation services; transportation safety programs; driver and vehicle licensing; and motor carrier regulation.
Senior Analyst
The Senior Analyst will provide application development and production support for Information Systems (IS) applications. This includes basic services such as problem resolution, program development, enhancement and maintenance and other services that support the software application development process. This position has responsibility to insure the continuing needs of our customers are met. The salary range is $4327-$6249/month+excellent benefits. This position is located in Salem, Oregon.
As a Senior Analyst you will: Analyze and design software and complex systems. Develop alternative solutions by researching existing systems, programs, procedures and pertinent customer data; performing cost, volume frequency, and procedural analysis; and/or create approaches to solve new, complex problems. Develop project deliverables through all phases of a project. Responsible for the completion of projects to customers' and supervisors' satisfaction and in accordance with development plans, standards and agreed upon timelines. Participate in Information Resource Planning and Tactical Planning for the DMV Application Development team. Provide input and updates regarding these planning processes, and act as customers advocate in discussions to ensure that business needs are represented and prioritized correctly. Work with multiple vendors and agencies to plan and implement new systems or major upgrades of hardware/software which could include dial-in and public access. Diagnose, troubleshoot or assess user problems up to and including system crashes on critical systems; coordinate or perform appropriate resolution. Develop and conduct formal training for users and data processing staff in the operation of new data processing systems and software packages. Provide conceptual, physical, and logical database tables, plans, and designs to database analysts.
Position Qualifications include:
Five years of professional consultative, technical, or administrative experience providing expert advice and leadership in planning, development, coordination, and implementation of information systems. This experience must include:
a) Four years hands-on experience developing and supporting mainframe systems;
b) Experience in a technical leadership role with responsibility for mainframe development and maintenance projects;
c) Four years experience in an MVS mainframe environment that includes problem solving, documenting results of analysis, business and technical requirements, design, specifications, construction, test plans, test cases and test results; and either
d) At least 30 quarter (20 semester) credits in computer science; or two more years of experience provides knowledge of information systems theory and principles.15 quarter (10 semester) graduate-level computer science, software engineering, information systems, or equivalent credits may substitute for one year of the professional experience.
