Senior Design & Rehabilitation Consultant

 

General Statement of Responsibilities:

Performs technical work in the preparation of architectural design concepts and the review and revision of plans for the restoration, rehabilitation and remodeling of primarily privately-owned residential structures in Norfolk.

 

Essential Functions:

• Plans and coordinates design projects with customers, architects, contractor, etc.

• Prepares layout design drawings using Computer Aided Design system (CAD).

• Reviews contractor’s proposals with property owners for program acceptability and pricing guidelines.

• Conducts on-site inspections and consultation to determine project feasibility; performs on-going construction review and consultation.

• Prepares accurate working and detailed specifications and drawings.

• Reviews plans and cost estimates.

• Generates informational and performance reports and correspondence; writes requests for proposals; maintains records.

• Provides customers, contractors, architects, etc. with guidance and coordination with City procedures and processes; serves as liaison with Division of Building Construction Services, Department of Neighborhood Preservation, and Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority.

 

• Requires ability to process contracts, specifications, safety regulations, technical reports, legal documents, proposals, general correspondence and studies.

• Requires the ability to perform general math calculations as well as algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

• Requires ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

• Requires ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

 

 

 

Education/Experience:

Requires possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related area from an accredited college or university and three years of experience in construction management; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

SALARY RANGE: Excellent compensation & benefit package. 

Starting Salary will be negotiated dependent on qualifications
