Senior Practice Manager

The Science and Systems Engineering Solutions Business Unit (SSESBU) currently has an exciting opening for a Senior Practice Manager. The preferred location is in the Houston, TX or Gulf Coast area; however, other locations may be considered in accordance with growth and customer objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for building the SSESBU's practice and presence in the offshore energy sector. This position will report directly to the Business Unit (BU) Director of Capture Management. Duties will include all phases of capture management, program management, and program execution: - Opportunity identification, - Opportunity qualification, - Proposal generation, - Capture and sales, and - Execution Opportunities will focus on market entry engagements with large growth potential that offer engineering services which leverage existing capabiliites. These capabilities center around, but are not limited to, safety and mission assurance engineering sub-disciplines and include: - Risk management, - Risk assessments, - Safety analysis, and - Reliability analysis. The Space and Ocean Systems Solutions Operation of SSESBU currently delivers these capabilities primarily to government customers in the space and ocean domains. The Senior Practice Manager will be a key member of the business development team, which provides direct support or coordinates support in the areas of marketing, communications, competitive analysis, teaming, strategic pricing, and proposal development. For example, the Senior Practice Manager will identify and participate, as required, in events such as trade shows and seminars that support capture objectives. As required for successful capture, the Senior Practice Manager will participate in proposal development and timely reporting requirements. The Senior Practice Manager will identify and qualify prospective teaming partners. Networking responsibilities may include identifying marketing and teaming opportunities with other company business units and groups to create a winning bid, as well as external industry associates at senior levels. The nature of of this position is such that travel is likely. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in technical, scientific, or business field is required. Four years of additional direct, successful capture management experience within the core capabilities and designated customer base is required. CAPTURE MANAGER SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: The preferred candidate will have at least 10 years experience in managing and leading capture activities in private industry serving offshore energy customers. However, a candidate may be considered who has served in a senior level position within an organization involved with core capabilities noted above. Further, a candidate must have the following qualifications: - proven track record in capturing or working on major programs, including working on industry proposal teams or serving on customer review teams - demonstrated capability for oral and written communication with all levels of company and customer management - analytical, presentation, and problem-solving skills - ability to gain internal support and to operate independently without supervision - ability to establish working relationships with customers, other companies, technical staff, managers and peers.
