Senior Procurement Agent
The Doe Fund is a leading New York City non-profit organization that operates the enormously popular and highly visible Ready, Willing & Able program, whose participants clean over 160 miles of streets and sidewalks every day. We empower people to break the cycles of homelessness, welfare dependency, substance abuse, and incarceration through innovative work and housing programs.
Position Overview
The Senior Procurement Agent will maintain vendor relationships and negotiate best pricing for company. Resolves all customer related complaints. Interact with accounting to resolve invoicing issues pertaining to area of responsibility.
Key Essential Functions:
• Take a leadership role in cross-divisional major commodity pooling efforts in order to secure best pricing for all Doe Fund facilities
• Take a leadership role and work in conjunction with Strategic Purchasing to continually monitor the marketplace for all major commodities to analyze pricing trends, technology advancements and potentially new, cost-efficient procurement alternatives.
• Develop, foster and enhance multi-departmental relationship(s) between The Doe Fund and key vendors
• Lead material cost reduction activities for all current products
• Assess current supply base on an on-going basis and recommend changes/alternatives that could reduce purchased material cost or add higher value to purchased components
• Resolve all invoice discrepancies for assigned supply base in a timely manner
• Ensure an uninterrupted supply of materials to Doe Fund facilities
• Other duties as assigned.
Competencies of the Position:
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
• Must be a proven expert at negotiation with quantifiable results and have contract and licensing expertise
• Strong analytical/technical skills
• High standards of integrity required
• Competence with Microsoft Office software required
• Planning and organizational skills with an ability to handle a multitude of projects required
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of Purchasing experience
• 2+ years experience purchasing maintenance materials
• Lawson Experience Preferred
• Professional designations or Certifications by recognized Purchasing organizations preferred
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft applications and accounting software.
