Senior Security Analyst

Nortel Government Solutions has an immediate opening for a Senior Security Analyst to work in a state of the art Security Operations Center located in Manassas, VA.    Position is responsible for monitoring real time data, discovering security events, analyzing the events, recommending a remediation path and escalating the security event to the Watch Officer. Other duties include but are not limited to participating in network, security & hardware engineering efforts. Candidate must have five years plus of security engineering. In addition, candidate must possess two to three years plus of previous experience in security event/alert monitoring employed in a SOC, CSIRT, or on a Security Response Team employed in the capacity as a Level III Analysts. Position requires strong written and oral communication skills. Candidate must be a team player with demonstrated ability to work without guidance. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance. Candidate must be capable of successfully passing a National Agency background check. Education: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience: 5 plus Required Skills/Abilities:  Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a related field. The successful candidate will possess:   · An intermediate to advanced understanding of host/network common vulnerabilities and exploits (CVEs), hacker methodologies and tactics, and the tools used. · Intermediate to advanced understanding of and experienced in the use of tools such as Trace Route, Visual Route, Ethereal, Nessus, know how to perform packet captures, TCPDumps and the use and function of other commonly used security tools. · Intermediate to advanced understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite, TCP/IP headers and packets, the OSI model, and commonly used TCP/UDP ports and associated services. · Experience with event monitoring and analysis of events presented on a Security Information Management/Event Management System (SIM/SEM) – preferably ArcSight. · Intermediate to advanced understanding of and experience with the monitoring and the analysis of Firewall logs, router logs, syslogs, and network/host-based Intrusion Detection/ Prevention systems (IDS/IPS). Experience with the tuning of IDS/IPS, firewall ACL’s and rule sets. · Intermediate to advanced understanding of network engineering and local and wide area (LAN/WAN) technologies and topologies. · Intermediate to advanced understanding of routing protocols, switching, etc. · Experience with host platform vulnerability assessment and hardening standards and methodologies. - Preferable experience with nCircle and or FoundStone vulnerability scanning solutions · Intermediate to advanced understanding of common OS and domain structures (WindowsNT, 2000 Active Directory, etc.), servers, services, and associated vulnerabilities. · Experience with Linux, Red Hat, etc. hosts, operating systems and applications. · Candidate must have Security/Information Assurance training through such sources as SANS, etc. Certifications: CISSP, Certified Ethical Hacker, Certified Incident Response Engineer, CCNA/CCNP, CCSP, MCSE, ArcSight training, Symantec CND and SSIM training, etc. strongly preferred.
