Software Developer (Scientist/Engineer I)
National Security Directorate

PNNL seeks individual with broad technical knowledge of software development practices to participate in on-going research projects leading to the development of human-centered computing environments in national security and environmental domains. This individual will participate in team engineering and agile development activities, ranging from requirements analysis, system design, software development and testing, and deployment support. Will proactively engage in the systems design to enable domain practitioners to execute their jobs in a more effective and efficient manner.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
· Minimum Education Requirement: BS 0-1 years experience, MS 0-1 years experience
· BS in Computer Science preferred; degrees in related fields with significant development experience will be considered.
· Technical Expertise: Contributing professional. Applies basic theories, principles, methods, tools and technologies to well-defined assignments of limited scope.
· Level of Responsibility: Performs basic science and engineering tasks and activities with minimal oversight.
· Breadth of Technical Knowledge: Works to broaden and deepen own technical knowledge and skills.
· The position requires experience in Java and/or C++ application development.
· The position requires experience in object-oriented systems design, and deployment of enterprise-scale software systems.
· Experience with software engineering practices, including interpreting user needs, developing requirements specifications and conceptual designs, developing test plans, and testing software systems is desired.
· Experience participating in interdisciplinary teams, particular in software development efforts, is a definite plus.
· Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and demonstrated abilities to work with teams advancing the state of the art.
· The ability and interest to work with subject matter experts across a range of application domains is required.

Note: Applicants will be considered ineligible for security clearance processing by the U.S. Department of Energy until non-use of illegal drugs for 12 consecutive months can be demonstrated.
