Sr. LAN/WAN Engineer

The SAIC Homeland Security Solutions Division currently has an opening for a Sr. LAN/WAN Engineer. JOB DESCRIPTION: With minimal supervision, this position will provide design, development, deployment, problem identification and remediation, and on-going support of the DHS/ICE international network. Work as member of network engineering team that designs, deploys, and supports a WAN supporting 800+ sites. Provide engineering planning and OSPF migration support for the ICE WAN migration to MPLS/DMVPN, to include: development and implementation of OSPF migration plans; BGP peering and connectivity to other agencies; determine appropriate circuit capacities; coordinate implementation schedules, IP addressing, and circuit orders with government and contractor personnel; effect changes in routing tables to migrate sites to new MPLS/DMVPN network. Provide design engineering and implementation support for the design and deployment of the ICE WAN, and LANs located at 800+ sites. Provide 2nd and 3rd tier support to the Network Operations Center (NOC) to identify and correct WAN hardware, software, and circuit problems. Will work independently, with only general guidance, to make independent decisions concerning: network engineering design; problem identification; and, problem remediation. Should be well versed with configuration and troubleshooting following protocols: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and MDVPN. Will respond to ICE network administration, operations, and maintenance problems while off duty, on an on-call basis. This position will report to a Telecommunications Manager. REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS: Bachelor's degree in related field and 8+ years of related IT experience. 14 years of related experience will be considered in lieu of degree. Required Certifications: CCNA. US Citzenship is required and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust clearance.
