Sr. Network Engineer

SAIC's Homeland Security Solutions Division has an immediate need for a Sr. Network Engineer. Descriptions of Duties: Under general supervision, this position will provide design, development, deployment, problem identification and remediation, and on-going support of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) international network. Work as member of network engineering team that designs and supports a ~400-site WAN. This position will: provide engineering planning and management support for the USCIS WAN; develop and /or validate designs for the USCIS WAN or LANs; determine optimal routing through the network; troubleshoot network performance problems; determine appropriate circuit types and capacities; support the migration to a MPLS network; interface the USCIS WAN with other Government WANs; and, identify and correct WAN/LAN hardware, software, and network engineering design; problem identification; and problem remediation. Required Education/Skills: Bachelor's degree in Communications Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar field OR equivalent experience. Minimum eight years of experience in designing, deploying, and supporting large WANs and LANs, of which at least five years of experience designing large WANs (over 100 sites). Candidate must possess strong analytical skills, be able to identify and resolve complex problems and issues arising from data communications and networking. Must have good interpersonal and communications skills in dealing with multiple contractor and government organizations. Must have understanding of: common circuit types; voice-over-IP and video-over-IP concepts, and implementation; WAN performance monitoring and troubleshooting; routing protocols (including BGP); MPLS; DMVPN; QoS theory and implementation; network security concepts, including specific experience implementing; current Cisco routers and switches; and, network management and monitoring tools. U.S. citizenship is required and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Desired Skills: Cisco certifications, satellite communications, 802.11B wireless, firewalls, VPN. Active DHS Public Trust clearance strongly desired.
