Sr. Safety & Reliability Engineer

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Design safety and reliability into weapon systems. Define reliability and safety requirements. Flow-down top-level requirements to functional elements. Model safety and reliability. Perform reliability predictions. Perform hazard analyses: Functional Hazard Analyses, Failure Mode Effects Criticality Analyses (FMECA), Fault Tree Analyses, Software Hazard Analyses, etc. Statistical estimation: Determine required sample size. Recommend design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability. - Evaluate safety and reliability of proposed design or production process changes. - Perform failure analysis and determine root cause of failure. - Provide written and oral communications to project management, functional management, business area management, and customers. - Prepare and deliver safety and reliability reports, proposals, and cost estimates. - Work effectively in a team environment that includes internal and external customers. - Delegate to, direct, coach and mentor junior safety and reliability engineers. QUALIFICATIONS To perform successfully in this role, we believe candidates should have the following education, skills, and experience. Education: Minimum required: BSEE, BSME, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Math Prefer: BSEE (or electrical and mechanical engineering experience, training, or aptitude) Required Skills: - 7-10 years experience with BS or 7-15 years with MS, preferably in weapon systems development - Reliability and Safety experience (system development, process, or product change) - Ability to work on multiple projects in the same time period organization, multitasking - Good communication skills (written and verbal). - Customer presentation skills a plus - AFSRB experience a big plus - Leadership; delegation; mentoring/coaching; demonstrated team player Other Information: This position requires U.S citizenship.
