Verification Audits and Training Senior Accountant

Reporting to the transaction tax manager, this is a key position with primary responsibility for conducting verification audits and manipulating large data sets to identify necessary accruals. The position will also work closely with the tax manager and/or director to assist with business unit training. Responsibilities include: -Work closely with the tax manager to develop compliance verification procedures for the Company’s sales and purchase data on a monthly basis -Assist manager/director in training organizations to maintain accurate filings. -Book periodic accruals -Recommend process changes as needed -Interact with general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, and other personnel to identify and resolve tax issues as they arise -Special projects as assigned by State Tax Manager or Tax Director Job requirements: -BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field -2-6 years experience in finance/accounting role -Willingness to travel up to 15-25% as required -Prior experience booking periodic accruals and completing complex reconciliations -Ability to manipulate large data sets -Self starter with exceptional process management skills, including proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. -Detail oriented and willing to work in a fast paced environment -Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management. -Strong analytical and problem solving skills. -Ability to perform under limited supervision -Solid presentation skills -Strong PC skills -Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities Preferred: -Prior multistate transaction tax experience -Government contracting experience highly desirable -Working knowledge of SAP and Costpoint Deltek accounting systems -Strong Excel, Hyperion, Cognos & Access skills “SAIC offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
