ACCESS SPECIALIST

Position Description

Serves as the initial point of contact for referring physicians, internal physicians and departments and patients. Insures appropriate access to the Temple Call Center and to the Health System physicians, programs and services. Handles requests through various channels such as phone, fax, email and Internet. Manages calls from patients and physicians for physician/service referrals and/or to schedule consultations with TUHS specialists and services. Provide documentation to patients and referring physicians about requested physician referral and/ or appointments. Education and Experience: Associates degree with 2-3 years of experience required; Bachelors degree in a Marketing, Communications or Health Care preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Superior customer service skills required with demonstrated experience in a customer oriented environment. Excellent writing and communication skills required. Strong organizational skills, detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong problem solving skills and problem resolution skills required. Demonstrated computer knowledge with experience in utilizing web-based applications, multiple databases as well as word, excel and email. Knowledge of medical terminology, managed care, insurance and hospital environment preferred. Bi-lingual (Spanish speaking) preferred.
