AR Specialist - Medical Insurance Collections

Pinnacle Partners in Medicine is the Anesthesia and Pain Medicine leader in the greater Dallas market and one of the largest anesthesia physician groups in the country.  Pinnacle is committed to providing comprehensive, quality and cost effective provider services in the area of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. We currently have several excellent opportunities for AR Specialists.This position is located in our Central Business Office which is located in North Dallas.

 POSITION SUMMARY:

 Responsible for collecting outstanding accounts receivable from patients and third party payers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):

1. Phone insurance companies for status on outstanding claims.

2. Process and follow up on appeals to insurance companies.

3. Phone patients for payment or payment arrangements on outstanding balances.

4. Print and re-file claims as needed.

5. Work correspondence daily.

6. Answer incoming patient, insurance company and physician office telephone calls.

7. Research/audit patient accounts for further payment or adjustments

8. Print and send collection letters as indicated.

9. Process returned mail.

10.  Work outstanding Accounts Receivable from Collector Queue with proficiency within 30-60 days employment.

11.  Be proficient in all designated MSI applications within 60 days of employment as related to the accounts receivable.

12.  Must be able to work 35- 40 accounts daily.

13.  Maintain accuracy rating of 90% or greater on audited accounts.

14.  Meet productivity standards as set by the department.

15.  Maintains strictest confidentiality.

16.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

· Skill in verbal and written communication. 

· Basic math skills for calculating anesthesia units and proper reimbursement

· Medical terminology

· Basic knowledge of insurance processing, guidelines and laws

· Knowledge of TWCC guidelines and laws

· Knowledge of managed care, Medicare and Medicaid guidelines

· Data entry skills.

· Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9 and ASA codes

· Good problem solving skills

· Decision making ability

· Strong analytical skills

· Skill in gathering and reporting information. 

· Ability to work effectively with staff, physicians and external customers.

· Must have a pleasant disposition and high tolerance level. 

· Must be able to work as part of a team

· Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

· Skill in computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel and Compass 21.

 EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

· High-school graduate.

· Associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field of study is preferred. 

· Two years of collection experience.  Prefer experience in a health care organization.
