  Summary

Under the supervision of the Staff Psychiatrist and Program Director, performs medication evaluations, prescribes medication, acts as a resource to staff and provides training and education to clients and caregivers.

 Essential Functions

75%     Medication Services

Perform on-site medication evaluations for referred clients.  Assess client need and evaluate the effectiveness of care and treatment.  Prescribe medication and monitor results under protocols established by the Staff Psychiatrist.  Review lab reports.  Consult with patients regarding effectiveness of treatment.  Provide education regarding psychopharmacology and related health issues to clients and their families. Respond to client emergency psychiatric situations as they arise with appropriate referrals as needed.

 

20%     Documentation

Ensure appropriate documentation of services and medications provided are accurate and up to date in client files.  Complete authorizations for services as needed.

 

5%       Resource Provision

Provide training in dispensing and management of psychotropic medication to clinical staff as pertains to individual clients.

Other duties as assigned.

 Education

Master’s of Science in Nursing

Graduated from an accredited nurse practitioner program

 Physical Requirements

Occasional bending, carrying, and lifting.  Frequent sitting, use of manual dexterity and visualization of a computer screen is required.

 Certification/Licensure

Licensed in the state of Kansas as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. 

 

 Work Experience

Minimum of two years clinical experience preferred
