ASST NURSE MANAGER Surgical Intensive Care Unit

Position Description

In conjunction with the Nurse Manager, assumes responsibility for the care of patients on a nursing unit. In the absence of the Nurse Manager, assumes ultimate 24 hour responsibility for the care of patients on a nursing unit. Directs and administers the nursing care provided on a nursing unit. Supervises, evaluates, guides and counsels nursing staff in their work performance. Ensures that staffing patterns provide optimal delivery of nursing service. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of nursing theory and practice and principles, methods and techniques involved in providing nursing care, familiarity with organization and function of departments, policies, procedures and regulations and knowledge of principles of leadership and management. Delivery of patient care is individualized relative to age/developmental, psycho-socio-cultural patient treatment needs. BSN or equivalent combination of education and experience required. R.N. licensure in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with a minimum of 18 months clinical experience required. Management experience helpful.
