Directs and plans the clinical and business operations of a multi-disciplinary oncology program. Integrates inpatient and outpatient surgical, medical, and radiation oncology services with community outreach screening, education, support, and ancillary services. Collaborates with and develops strong working relationships with medical staff and administration in creating and implementing the program’s vision. Plans for delivery of high quality, cost effective services, aligned with medical center and regulatory standards. Coordinates activities at the different campuses, ensuring uniform quality care at all sites. Education: Masters Degree in Nursing, Health or Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience: Demonstrated progressive management ability in providing administrative direction to innovative programs within the healthcare field. Demonstration of effective management skills, knowledge of hospital administration, and agency compliance in patient care delivery systems is required. Must have senior management experience over multiple patient care areas, multi-hospital experience preferred. Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of Oncology operations in acute and non-acute/OP settings in establishing work processes, quality and productivity standards, and policies and procedures designed to ensure optimal departmental performance. A comprehensive knowledge of all JCAHO, Title 22/State, federal, American College of Surgeons, state licensing, and other local regulations as they relate to Oncology Services is required. Knowledge of technological advancements, labor savings procedures and equipment, sophisticated Oncology equipment and procedures for all sectional areas, and other state-of-the-art departmental specific delivery systems is required. Knowledge of the recent trends/issues in healthcare delivery mechanisms is required, especially related to Oncology Services. Special Skills/Equipment: Excellent team leadership, administrative, organizational, problem solving analysis and program development skills are required. An ability to prioritize multiple demands and projects is critical. Proven written and oral communication skills demonstrating excellent interpersonal and Human Resource skills are required in order to coordinate effective area-wide integration that meets service needs as well as Administrative, physician, and departmental needs in the various entities. Must have well-developed skills in team development, collaboration, consensus building, conflict resolution and change management. An excellent background and ability to form strong physician relationships with the various Medical Directors, as well as build strong collaboration with nursing and other key department’s is required. An ability to build teams, as well as consensus is crucial. An ability to deal with complex situations and a large degree of variation in policies, rules and regulations is critical. Flexibility, adaptability, and creativity and innovation are required. Must be a self-starter with a high degree of initiative and ability to work independently. An ability to meet deadlines and implement projects effectively across multiple entities is an integral part of the work responsibilities.
