The APN role is multifaceted. APN's serve as direct care providers, consultants, researchers, and educators. The APN, as Practitioner, models excellence in practice through direct care to selected patients or groups. As Consultant, the APN does problem solving with individuals, families, group agencies, communities, and/or interdisciplinary colleagues (within and outside of the clinical setting) As Educator, the APN supports and participates in learning efforts of clients, staff and students within the clinical setting, area schools and institutions of higher learning. The APN, as Researcher, promotes scientific inquiry in clinical practice and uses research process and findings to improve nursing practice. The APN takes responsibility for his/her own Professional Development by continuing to improve and augment personal skills and contribute to the health of society. Additional Responsibilities include performing tasks and functions of a transplant coordinator in the Lung Transplant program. Provide clinical care to all lung transplant and pulmonary patients in the program including outpatient and inpatient Pulmonary transplant workup. On-call Support required.
