Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner

Qualifications:

 

· Master of Science in Nursing Family Practice, Certified in Family Practice

· Active, current ARNP license in the State of Florida

· Valid Florida Drivers License in good standing;

· Current CPR/HIV certification

· Prefer primary care experience and ACLS.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

This position requires initiative and the ability to function independently.  The incumbent’s role is to work harmoniously with the staff of the Seminole Health Department to provide a high standard of care through continuous quality improvement and program planning.

 Performs act of diagnosis and treatment in the primary care setting in accordance with the Florida Board of Nursing guidelines and established protocols with collaborating physician.Refers patients as needed to Beech St. providers to achieve the best health outcomes for the patients.Works efficiently within Tribal Financial and Budget Policies and Procedures. Works closely with managed care department to employ cost conscious care with optimum health outcome.Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to enhance the overall effectiveness of the Seminole Health Department in the delivery of patient care.Assists the clinic manager in personnel functions e.g. reviewing curriculum vitae’s, interviewing and selecting candidates for employment and providing orientation.Assist in staff development. Assists the Director of Nursing with developing and implementing family oriented clinical and preventative health care program.Consultation with RN/LPN regarding patient’s home health care.Coordinate the annual tribal fair health department booth and first-aide station.Participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and peer review activities inclusive of Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Head Start Health Advisory Committee, Case Management and others as assigned by the Director of Nursing.Assists if needed in the preparation of monthly narrative reports and other key reports required by the IHS contract.Educates and counsels patients on health issues and self-care skills, e.g. pathophysiology, pharmacological interventions, periodic screening / health maintenance, healthy lifestyles to assist patients in reaching their optimum level of wellness.Dispense medication samples as needed.Consult with medical specialists, contract health providers to ensure delivery of goods and services in a timely manner.
