Job Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer

The assistant athletic trainer works under the supervision of the head athletic trainer and supervises the care of student athletes competing in the Academy’s eleven varsity athletic programs.  The assistant athletic trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries within the Academy’s comprehensive sports medicine program.  This is a full-time, benefits eligible position with a 9 month contract.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses

• Evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries

• Providing counseling and education to student athletes

• Supervision of student workers that assist with clerical duties within the athletic training room

• Recordkeeping and documentation

• Work with doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student athletes

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in appropriate area of specialization.  Professional experience in collegiate athletics beneficial.

• Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)

• Current First Aid and CPR Certification

• Maine State Athletic Training Licensure (or eligibility for)

• Familiarity with NCAA Division III governing rules
