Job Purpose:
Providing administrative direction for patient registration, billing and collection, data entry and processing, cash posting, financial counseling and guest relations.
Skills/Qualifications:
A minimum of three (3) years experience in running a business office in a hospital setting, the ideal candidate should be knowledgeable in all phases of billing and collection of Medicare, Medi-cal and Manage Care receivables. The candidate must have a good understanding of the full revenue cycle process. Very familiar with cashier posting of payments and adjustment as they relate to the general ledger. Duties:
* Accomplishes business office human resource strategies by determining accountabilities; communicating and enforcing values, policies, and procedures; implementing recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, counseling, disciplinary, and communication programs; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; reviewing compensation strategies.
* Directs business office organizational strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to functional strategic thinking and direction.
* Directs business office operational strategies by analyzing trends; preparing critical measurements; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing systems; resolving problems; developing and implementing new or revised procedures, policies, and programs; analyzing and ensuring department data entry and processing effectiveness; recommending and implementing changes.
* Implements business office financial strategies by anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances; participating in hospital-wide cost reduction and/or control; seeking alternative, less expensive methods of providing service, eliminating wasteful or unnecessary procedures; evaluating new programs or services in terms of cost effectiveness and critical need for service.
* Generates revenues by developing and implementing collection systems; analyzing and evaluating the admitting and information-gathering processes; monitoring managed care, third party reimbursement, and accounts receivable management, including bad debt and cash collections; adhering to and anticipating changes in Federal and State reimbursement regulations.
* Provides information by preparing and analyzing statistical, operational, and other reports for senior management; participating in meetings to receive and disseminate hospital information and direction; ensuring that patients receive the information they need to maximize their health care benefits.
* Protects and safeguards patient information and confidentiality by designing systems to control the accuracy and security of patient record information, including data entry and processing, storage, retrieval, and archiving functions.
* Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by developing policy positions concerning federal, state, and local regulations, and JACHO standards; supporting and upholding hospital and department policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environment, and infection control; anticipating emerging issues.
* Updates job knowledge by creating state-of-the-art practices within the hospital; providing leadership in educational and professional organizations; being sought as a subject-matter expert; contributing to professional publications; maintaining personal networks.
* Accomplishes the hospital's goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
