The Assistant Director of Pharmacy must plan, organize and direct all functions of the hospital pharmacy services. The Assistant Director must assure all legal and regulatory requirements are satisfied and that pharmacy services and activities are carried out to meet goals and standards of both Cardinal Health and the hospital.



Principal Duties/Responsibilities:Process patient and department charges accurately/timelyPurchase drugs and supplies in accordance with Bids and Cardinal Health PoliciesUse Econotherapeutics in formulary controlResponsible for all drug storage and preparation in the hospitalEstablish standards/training for sterile product preparationParticipate in Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committee Communicate all pertinent P&T information Design, implement, and maintain all pharmacy Qualifying Individual (QI) activitiesAchieve acceptable scores on operations auditsManage staff pharmacists and technicians (train, develop, hire and terminate)Maintain legal staffing level at all timesReconcile financial information and communicate on a timely basisDevelop and maintain medical staff approved formularyAssure adequate control and documentation of controlled substancesDocument all drug recalls and use of investigational drugsEnsure compliance with all state, local, and federal regulationsMeet or exceed all Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)/Medicare/Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards related to pharmacyArrange/conduct hospital and pharmacy orientation for new hires within 60 daysEnsure competency of designated staff on proper use of equipment and skills Pharmacy Degree (Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy) Current license to practice Pharmacy in state 1 to 3 years hospital experience preferred Strong communication skills Ability to manage a team Proven customer service skills
