Access Coordinator- Bed Management RN- Full Time 3 12 hour shifts In this role, you will be responsible for the bed management process to ensure appropriate use of available beds and clinical resources. A summary of accountabilities is as follows: Access Management: Under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer this individual will chair the Bed Management Committee and work with the Director of Patient Access to assist in the coordination of bed availability through the incorporation of daily bed briefings, use of bed board information and review of available clinical information for emergent, urgent, elective and transfer admissions. The individual in this position will evaluate available clinical information to ensure inpatient care requirements will meet admission criteria and to assist in the prioritization and assignment of admission and transfer beds. The individual in this position is an integral component of the hospital wide Bed Management process. The key responsibility associated with the Divert Management Procedure is reducing the time required to bed a patient from all points of entry. The Access Coordinator will work with the Admissions office to assess clinical appropriateness of all admissions. Data Coordination: Responsibilities include the tracking, management and reporting of through-put processes: Monthly ED Divert hours, PACU holding hours, overall and unit based time required to bed a patient, EVS turn-around times, outlier analysis on cases with extensive delays in through-put, and recommendation of other tracking mechanisms to support process improvement. This includes weekly review of data, and monthly preparation of information for monthly/quarterly results reporting for Administration, CEQI, Bed Management Committee and Board Reports. A Pennsylvania licensed RN with a minimum of three years of clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting. Previous experience preferred in an admission center, Physician Advisor, Medical Director, utilization-review, case management and/or changing healthcare processes (participation on quality improvement teams). BSN and Case Management or Discharge Planning experience preferred.
