Benefits Specialist

Fast-growing 200mil medical equipment company is actively pursuing an experienced Benefits Specialist who is willing to roll up his/her sleeves and help this company grow.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, written and computer skills.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications to include MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and MS Access. 

Position Overview

Obtains benefit coverage information pre-certification and pre-authorization for cases referred and ensures maximum reimbursement

Primary Job FunctionsReview referral paperwork and information entered into system for accuracy.Create and maintain timely and accurate notes in system detailing all pre-cert activity related to each case. Contact payor to determine benefits for requested equipment and/or service; and follow guidelines set by payor to obtain authorization to supply equipment and/or service. Effectively negotiate with payors and coordinate with Collections Specialists to ensure payment and maximum profitability on each case. Maintain timely and regular communication with physician's office regarding the status of pending referrals.

Requirements

Required:  High school diploma or equivalent.  One (1) year clerical, administrative or pre-authorization background in the healthcare industry.  Strong customer service skills.

Preferred:  Associates Degree.  Three (3) years clerical, administrative or insurance verification and pre-authorization background in the healthcare industry.  Strong customer service skills.
