SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION The primary purpose and function of the Business Systems Analyst is to manage, schedule, coordinate, and communicate PetWare  projects and releases that support needs of the practice and to mentor and coach other PetWare business analysts. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS • Responsible for performing and overseeing the overall business requirements gathering, development validation and business project coordination of assigned PetWare projects. • Create functional requirements from business requirements, prioritizing features, documenting workflow diagrams, writing use cases, utilizing UML for abstract modeling the system, including cross platform integration requirements and writing user testing plans and scripts. • Become an expert user of the repository tool for storing and managing requirements and test scripts. • Mentor business analysts and systems analysts and project team members as needed by working with the Team Leader for the PetWare Business Analyst and Systems Analyst teams. • Involvement in the full lifecycle of the project from Project initiation and approval, the business analysis phase through deployment to the hospitals and post deployment issue resolution. • Manage internal and external customers and vendors on projects from inception through implementation and review. • Quickly develop a keen understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain project teams’ trust and confidence.  • Responsible for the effective, routine tracking of the progress of the project, and communication of project status upward to PetWare Sr. Director and Practice Leadership. • Ensure proper change control of key project assets; i.e., requirements, product specifications, contracts, documentation, throughout the project lifecycle. • Manage project priorities - continuously performing project issue/risk assessment and reduction/mitigation; escalating when necessary. • Ensure key project-wide roles and responsibilities are defined across the project; coordinate efforts with other team members and teams, and communicate expectations to project team members. • Manage deadlines and ensure timely completion of projects, accept full responsibility and accountability for the overall success of the project. • Implement and maintain a project document repository. • Update PetWare Education team and SmartHelp with policy and/or procedure changes or additions. • Develop policies and procedures based on PetWare updates and work with appropriate CTS team to finalize. • Other job duties as assignedHIRING QUALIFICATIONSCAPABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE (CAN DO) • Ability to multi-task- Manages multiple tasks at one time; quickly and accurately shifts attention among multiple tasks under distracting conditions without loss of accuracy or appearance of frustration.  • Communication skills - Reads, writes and speaks fluent English, using appropriate grammar, style and vocabulary.  Correctly spells commonly used English words and job specific terms. • Organizational ability – Demonstrates a systematic approach in carrying out assignments.  Is very orderly and excels at cutting through confusion and turning chaos into order.  • Problem solving skills - Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.  Unusually decisive in handling difficult problems. SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.  • Project timelines and work volume / deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job. • Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently. • The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate. • Environment where Pets are present. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field of study is preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. • Medical terminology training and/or medical background (veterinary technician, human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.) preferred. • Four or more years combined experience as a business analyst or systems analyst required with project management, knowledge of organizational and project development techniques preferred.
