Position Summary:

Responsible for a broad range of capital planning purchasing functions which include:

-facilitation of product changes and inservicing -contracting for supplies and services -preparing bids -capital equipment -service contracts -meeting with vendors -electronic purchasing -order verification, -purchase of supplies consistent with departmental and UMass Memorial policies and procedures.

Position Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business or liberal arts and 5-8 years of previous buyer experience. -Experience in Capital project, construction, and equipment purchasing highly preferred. -In-depth knowledge of buying concepts required. -A comprehensive working knowledge of computer-based financial/forecasting techniques. -Familiarity with hospital/healthcare delivery systems and financial forecasting is required. -Strong oral and written communication and negotiation skills necessary to provide, as well as, receive oral and written instructions with accuracy, efficiency and dependability.
