CASAC Counselor

Under the supervision of the Program Director, coordinates substance abuse treatment services. Directs, supervises and monitors counselors in implementing treatment services.

Specific Responsibilities

o In conjunction with the Program Director, plans, directs, and coordinates all treatment services.

o Counsels clients individually and in group sessions to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life in recovery and making changes.

o Participates in case conferences to assess client progress; where needed makes recommendations for changes in treatment planning and advancement to the next treatment level.

o Supervises staff in scheduling all client treatment activities; assigns caseloads; provides training; monitors and evaluates counselors in the performance of their duties (assessments, treatment planning, counseling and all other clinical activities).

o In cooperation with the Program Director, assesses staff development and training needs.

o Responsible for staff compliance with policies and procedures regarding record keeping and HIPPA laws.

Qualifications

o CASAC credential required.

o Ability to perform under clinical and administrative pressure.

o Good interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills required.

o Knowledge of Therapeutic Community practices; familiarity with the12 Step approach.

o Must meet requirements for the completion of a security clearance.
