CNO/Vice President of Nursing & Nurse Manager--Emergency

Our client is a 300 plus bed regional referral center/hospital system located South of Indianapolis' Southside.  Communities that might be commutable here would be Greenwood, Franklin, Bloomington, Columbus, etc. They have two (2) nursing leadership searches that we are assisting them to fill. First search here is for a: Vice President/CNO who is a member of the Executive Leadership team.  Areas of responsibility here are: . Acute Care Nursing Units. Nursing Coordinators and Advanced Practice Nursing. Infection Control. Cardiovascular Services. Emergency Services Total FTEs reporting to this position is around 530 and the budget is around $34 million. Requirements are:  . Masters degree in nursing, business administration, or health administration required.. BS in Nursing required.. Ten plus years of progressive leadership experience in the healthcare industry required with executive  level leadership preferred.. Current membership and active involvement in professional healthcare organizations such as AONE, ANA, or ACHE strongly preferred.. Proficient with Microsoft Office products. Second search here is for a: Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department who is a member of the Nursing Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the Director of Cardiovascular Services and indirectly to the VP/CNO. Total FTEs reporting directly to this manager is 64 with overall responsbility for a $4 million budget. Level II trauma center experienced 38,000 ER visits in 2007.  Growth of 18% in monthly visit growth since 2004.  Admissions from ER is on an average of 35% of total admissions over the last 3 years. New ER being planned that will be twice the size of client's current unit. Timeframe here 2008-2012.
ER is one of the first projects to be undertaken here.  Current ER is 19 beds which includes cardiac-monitored beds with a central monitoring station and 4 trauma rooms, as well as, 6 fast track rooms. Unit currently staffed with RNs, Paramedics, Techs and Unit Secretaries. ED has contract with a physician group consisting of 13 board certified ER doctors as well as Nurse Practitioners. RNs available for sexual assault and case management/UR positions. Requirements are: BS in Nursing or be in process of obtaining a BS from an ASN/ADN level. Current RN licensure in State of Indiana required. CPR, ACLS, PALS certifications will be necessary. Certification by the BCEN preferred or chosen candidate should obtain it within 3 years of hire. Membership with ENA encouraged. Minimum of 5 years of RN experience preferred 3 years working in a critical care or ED setting. Progressive leadership experience moving up from Staff nurse in charge, supervisor, case management, or education positions should be evident in recent work history. Skills using MS office Products.
