COMMODITY PLANNER II

 

The incumbent is a professional responsible for leading procurement related projects which are complex in scope, and/or require consulting on applicable procurement strategies. Advises and guides the internal customer organization regarding the application and integration of procurement philosophies, and techniques to meet the needs of identified internal customer requirements. Acts as team lead for procurement management of assigned procurement activities. Coordinates activities with various levels of employees and management at Highmark and its subsidiaries and recommend appropriate procurement strategies and tactics to obtain desired results. Timely and cost-effective acquisition of assigned goods and/or services, in accordance with corporate policies/procedures, best practices, and f ederal acquisition regulations. The incumbent serves as a source of procurement, market and supplier information as a leader/member of cross-functional procurement teams. These cross functional teams, along with other procurement staff, as necessary, will develop the appropriate procurement strategies and recommendations for the purchase and management of the assigned procurements. The incumbent also solicits and negotiates with suppliers in order to cost effectively procure the goods and services, as specified by the team. In addition, the incumbent performs activities that support the overall function of the department (i.e., systems support, SADBUS support, certifications, ProCard support, documentation requirements). Commodities managed by this position are managed across Highmark for all locations. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

An Associate’s degree is required. Four years of experience is required in the procurement of services, office equipment, office supplies, capital equipment, medical equipment and medical supplies, communications equipment, computer hardware and software.  

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

 

A Bachelor's or advanced degree preferred. Extensive knowledge of the procurement process and established purchasing policies and procedures also preferred. Training in quality, and skills in facilitation, influencing and team-building preferred. Problem solving and effective communications, both oral and written. Negotiations and contracting skills in order to work with suppliers and internal customers to each mutually agreeable decisions preferred.
