CPC OR NCICS CERTIFIED MEDICAL CODER

Dermpath Diagnostics is devoted exclusively to Dermatology Pathology. Our continued growth has created an immediate opportunity in our Pompano Beach Center for Billing Excellence. At this practice you will enjoy state-of-the-art equipment in an environment where high quality patient care is a priority. Responsible for coding of patient insurances and ICD9 codes and verifying CPT. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: A. EDUCATION: • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and continuing education in medical terminology. • Desired 2 year Associates Degree or higher. B. EXPERIENCE: • Required: CPT, ICD9 and insurances knowledge • Desired: One 1-3 years entry experience in medical billing C. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS: • Required: CPC OR NCICS CERTIFICATIONS D. EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS: • Employee must have personal computer knowledge. Know how to review the CPT and ICD9 books. • Ability to use 10 keypunches, able to work the fax copier, printer, and fax machine. • Computer PC, Windows and related software E. SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: • CPT, ICD9 and insurance coding • Knowledge of IDX and edits • Be able to prioritize a heavy workload • Ability to work independently or as a team player Employee must have personal computer knowledge, Winsurge and/or IDX system knowledge is a plus. Know how to review the CPT and ICD9 books for appropriate code usage. Be able to prioritize a heavy workload. Ability to work independently or as a team player. One to three years Medical Coding experience. Coding Certification, NCICS or CPC required, but can be obtained if scheduled for the exam within the next 3-6 months with appropriate past coding experience.
