Cardiovascular Sonographer

Job summary:  Registered/Registry Eligible Cardiovascular Sonographer to perform adult echocardiograms.  Individuals with RDCS/RCS and RVT a plus but not required.

 

Major Responsibilities:  1. Performs all echocardiographic ultrasound examinations for multi-site physician offices.  2.  Conducts echocardiography on adult patients.  3.  Non-invasive vascular sonography a plus but not a requirement.  4.  Maintains supplies and equipment.  5.  Effectively communicates with physicians and nursing personnel in properly assessing and treating patients.  6.  Demonstrates knowledge and support of clinical policies and procedures.

 

Educational Requirements:  1. Associate Degree in Cardiovascular Technology or Applied Sciences or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience required.  Requires the ability to read, write and speak English.

2.  Technologist must hold active registry with either CCI or ARDMS in the specialty of adult echocardiography.  3.  AHA CPR certification for health care providers is required.  4.  ACLS preferred.

 

Experience Requirements:  1. A minimum of one (1) year experience in echocardiography is required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

 Advanced knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy pertinent to specialty.Ability to function autonomously in extremely high stress clinical situations.Ability to prioritize work.Superior communication skills necessary to interact with physicians regarding the finding of echocardiography exams using appropriate medical and specialty terms.Clerical skills needed to perform record keeping and scheduling duties.Computer knowledge and skills in digital technology.Ability to remain courteous and professional when dealing with employees.Must be able to assess special patient problems requiring considerable amount of judgment and decision making.Must be able to determine and interface machine and study errors.Must exercise discretion in the handling of confidential information.Must be able to make quick and accurate judgment in emergency situations.Must be physically able to fulfill responsibilities.Problem solving skills to effectively handle unusual occurrences relative to the position.
