Certified Home Health Aide

 

Job Description:

Summary:  Certified Home Aides meet the needs of our respected patients, including but not limited to:  assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene care, medication reminders, range of motion exercise, walking, turning, transferring, and repositioning as needed, meal preparation, feeding, encouraging or limiting drinking of fluids, light housekeeping, changing bed linens, laundry, grocery shopping, errands and other duties.

 

Qualifications

1. High school graduate preferred.

2. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.

3. Must possess current Oklahoma Certification as a Home Health Aide.

4. Must have no criminal charges or arrests in the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation data base.



Requirements

· Have reliable transportation.

· Must read, write and speak English clearly and write legibly.

· Have the ability to understand and carry out directions or instructions, both written and verbal.

· Be in good physical health with no limitations or restrictions.

· Have the ability to report to a supervisor any changes in medical condition(s), mental status or behavior of the patient.

· Ability to work with minimal supervision.

· Ability to see and hear.

· Ability to exercise patience and self-restraint during stressful situations.

· Ability to stand an average of 6 to 8 hours daily.

· Ability to maintain a pleasant and courteous manner with patients and staff members.  Must show flexibility if patient or assignment is changed.

· Possess good personal grooming and hygiene.

· Ability to bend and/or perform repetitive motion tasks with or without limitations or restrictions.

· Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds with or without restrictions or limitations.

· Ability to perform the requirements of this position with or without accommodations or restrictions.

· Knowledge of how to perform and monitor vital signs if requested.



Responsibilities

1. Assists patients to ensure their cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, nourishment, rest, activity and elimination in a manner conducive to the patient’s comfort and safety.

2. Preserves the dignity and self-respect of all patients at all times.

3. Maintains privacy and confidentiality about the patients at all times.

4. Keeps alert to the patient’s condition and reports changes in the patient’s attitude, appearance, behavior and physical status to the Supervisor within twenty-four (24) hours of noticing changes.

5. Submits weekly timesheets to the office on Mondays by 2 p.m.

6. Notifies office staff in a timely manner of any changes to assigned schedule

7. Utilizes Universal Precautions as defined by the Centers for Disease Control.

8. Attends mandatory monthly in-services.

9. Maintains patient and/or client confidentiality by assuring that no information about any patient and/or client is disclosed in any form, except as reported to Supervisor.

10. Conducts personal care as well as housekeeping duties for the patient without an attitude.

11. Maintains credentials and makes sure all are up to date.

12. Conducts other duties as assigned.
