Work in a small, acute, inpatient psychiatric treatment facility designed to treat adults in acute psychiatric status and who require treatment in a safe environment.  The hospital will provide an array of services, which will include: Assessment of mental, social and physical health from multidisciplinary staff including physicians, advance practice registered nurses, nurses, psychologists, social workers and other rehabilitation therapists as appropriate.  Active mental health treatment and programming including an introduction to the Illness Management and Recovery model of psychiatric care.  This model is person centered and includes the family and community in the treatment planning and implementation. 

 


JOB DUTIES:Perform paraprofessional occupational therapy work, including the following responsibilities:

1. Define occupational therapy goals and design treatment plans for approval by the occupational therapist based on assessment of patient functioning levels established through testing and observation of demonstrated skills.


2. Implement occupational therapy treatment plans designed to improve functional skill levels of patients by conducting individual and group activities.


3. Compile and evalute data of patient progress to develop an information base for use in treatment program planning by observation and charting attendance and participation in activities.
4. Maintain program facilities and equipment so that the work areas are safe, adequately stocked and sanitary.


5. Provide a paraprofessional student training site that will meet entry-level occupational therapy assistant requirements.


6. Provide professional delivery of OT services so that services are in compliance with AOTA Standards of Practice, Minnesota Department of Health OT Licensing, National Certification in OT, and SOS policies.


7. Attend continuing education so that skills are current, maintained and enhanced.

 


Qualifications: 

·  COTA-Completion of  2 year college or vocational school program and certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

In addition, the state's contribution toward your insurance, retirement, Medicare and Social Security benefits is 30 percent of your salary.  Not including the cost of vacation time, holidays, sick leave and other benefits.  Health insurance is free to employees who work 3/4 time or more.  Dependent coverage is $63.00 semi-monthly.  Dental insurance is $2.50 semi-monthly for employee coverage.
