Chaplain with bereavement experience(PRN) in Cleveland

Our caregiver teams provide compassionate care for terminally ill patients and their families during one of the most difficult times in their lives. We are currently seeking a PRN Chaplain with bereavement experience for our Cleveland program. The Chaplain's primary function as a core member of the interdisciplinary team, is to provide the spiritual needs of patients, families, caregivers, and staff, including volunteers. The Chaplain provides pastoral care interventions, including pastoral counseling, which are determined by spiritual assessment, the specific setting, and sensitivity to a variety of values, beliefs, and religious orientations. The Chaplain seeks excellence in pastoral care, which requires an authentic demeanor, compassion and skill in dealing with the spiritual dynamics of illness, loss, and death. The Chaplain is accountable for the delivery of bereavement services by the team to the patient and family. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. Master of Divinity or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited seminary or theological school. Ordination (or in certain cases, Commissioning) to function in a ministry of pastoral care. Has received the endorsement of and is in good standing with his/her faith body. Five years of pastoral experience is preferred — two years of which have been in a clinical setting. A minimum of 1 unit (400 hours), preferably two or more, of clinical pastoral education (CPE) accredited by one of the following: (or an equivalent, see #7)§ Association for Clinical Pastoral Education § National Association of Catholic Chaplains§ Canadian Association for Pastoral Education7. Equivalencies to CPE may include one of the following:§ Evidence of clinical pastoral care educational experience which includes supervision of ministry, peer group participation, and theological reflection§ AAMFT, AAPC, or AMHC certification§ DMin or other accredited graduate degree in pastoral care will be considered on an individual basis8. Knowledge of and skill in dealing with the spiritual dynamics of illness, loss, and death.9. Ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team. 10. Committed to professional growth and development. Local candidates with strong ties to the Cleveland community preferred. Qualified candidates must have bereavement experience.
