Charge Entry Specialist - Medical Biller
Pinnacle Partners in Medicine is the Anesthesia and Pain Medicine leader in the greater Dallas market and one of the largest anesthesia physician groups in the country. Pinnacle is committed to providing comprehensive, quality and cost effective provider services in the area of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Charge Entry Specialist.This position is located in our Central Business Office which is located in North Dallas.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position performs data entry of anesthesia charges into the patient accounting system from charge tickets while verifying supporting documentation including anesthesia records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):
1. Review CPT, ICD-9, ASA and HCPCS coding on charge tickets.
2. Review anesthesia records for supporting documentation for charge tickets.
3. Enter charge data on each patient into the patient accounting system with high level of accuracy. Expected performance is to enter 150+ charge tickets per day by 90 days of employment.
4. Maintain daily records to verify beginning and ending Accounts Receivable balances in each database.
5. Review claim reports for errors/rejections and make necessary corrections.
6. Assist the Collections Department with corrections and billing issues.
7. Run daily concurrency reports and audit for compliance.
8. Suspend billing on any incomplete or inaccurate charge tickets and seek input from the provider and/or the supervisor of the department.
9. Identify cosmetic and/or prepaid cases and notify the payment-posting department of charges on those accounts.
10. Quote fees and document quotes as needed.
11. Audit billing work as requested.
12. File charge tickets in file cabinets.
13. Box and label charge tickets weekly for storage.
14. Maintains strictest confidentiality.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
· Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, ASA and HCPCS coding.
· Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and Workers Compensation rules and regulations.
· Skill in keyboarding/data entry.
· Knowledge of organization policies, procedures and systems.
· Skill in computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel.
· Skill in verbal and written communication.
· Skill in gathering and reporting information.
· Ability to work effectively with staff, physicians and external customers.
· Must have a pleasant disposition and be a team player.
· Ability to work independently with limited supervision. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:High School graduate. Minimum of two years experience in a healthcare business office is required. Prefer billing/coding experience in a healthcare organization.
