Charge Master Manager
Job Details: JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Director of Patient Financial Services, the Chargemaster & Financial Support Manager is responsible for the supervision and coordination of Chargemaster analyst functions in researching coding & billing guidelines, researching insurance contracts, and updating hospital Chargemaster, as well as the supervision and coordination of the financial support team. This includes the coordination of staff functions with an outside county contract to provide eligibility through chart access for the Department of Social Services for Medi-Cal funding. This position recognizes the complexities of funding patient accounts in a changing environment of governmental regulations, inter-institutional agreements and special group contracts/relationships. This position collaborates with managerial and supervisory staff to ensure regulatory billing with correct coding on accounts. This position researches codes and regulations as it pertains to CPT-4 HCPCS Level I, HCPCS Level II, and HCPCS Level III, and Revenue codes as well as billing regulations. Maintains a working knowledge of the revenue cycle process to aid in the implementation of regulatory standards that assist the hospital in cash collection while accurately complying with billing guidelines. This position also implements strategies to optimize the maintenance of the CDM via the Meditech, Access, SSI, Medassets and Chartmaxx systems. Maintains high productivity and quality with minimal supervision. Works in collaboration with internal (PFS) and external (Rady Children's and others) customers. Customer service and satisfaction is a key standard for all communications. Work will be subject to compliance reviews and productivity standards. Yearly continuing education is required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor's degree in finance or business administration or related field 3-5 years healthcare experience required Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs, including but not limited to: Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint Ability to understand and analyze payor regulations, the impact of the Chargemaster on reimbursement, and coding guidelines Aptitude to understand insurance terms, i.e., HMO, PPO, EOB, Stop Loss, RA, OPPS, IPPS, HIPAA, Capitation, Managed Care, and 1011 Operate a 10-Key by touch Ability to operate systems such as Meditech, Chartmaxx, SSI, Access and navigate the internet Ability to accurately speak, read, write and understand English Ability to multi-task and work under aggressive deadlines Possess effective oral and written communication skills Possess effective time management skills to permit handling a large workload EOE/MF/D/V
