Job DescriptionUsing discretion and independent judgment, the Charge Nurse maintains the delivery of quality patient care by assuring that the nursing care plan is followed. The position combines the activities of direct and indirect patient care. This position¿s primary responsibility is supervision of staff, including recommendation to assign, reward, or discipline employees, or to adjust their grievances, or to recommend such action. This position is required to use independent discretion and judgment with respect to supervisory and management decisions and recommendations. Knowledge of nursing theory, practices, techniques, procedures and standards; of principals and methods of teaching and of personnel principals and practices is also required. This position requires skill in planning and organizing nursing care; applying advanced nursing clinical skills, in maintaining records and charts, in preparing written reports, in teaching other nursing-related skills, and in maintaining effective working relationships with others.
