AIDS Healthcare Foundation is searching for a Chief of Medicine-Global. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the President of AHF. The Chief of Medicine-Global position may be located in any of several locations worldwide and involves international travel.
SUMMARY
Under direction of the President of AHF, the Chief of Medicine–Global will develop, coordinate, and enforce AHF’s medical policies, and oversee all global medical programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- As a member of the AHF Senior Management team develops the clinical vision of the organization globally.
- Ensures that revenue enhancement, expense reduction and quality and service improvement efforts are effective and consistent with AHF’s clinical vision and policies.
- Develops, coordinates and enforces medical policies. Educates staff on rationale and need for adherence to medical policies at the global sites.
- Oversees the medical records program of AHF-Global and the operation of all facilities within all legal and accreditation guidelines.
- Establishes care management, utilization review, and quality improvement criteria.
- Sets up criteria and monitors the performance of physicians and medical staff.
- Assesses and recommends appropriate use of new technology in treatment of patients.
- Participates, develops, and coordinates Continuing Medical Education programs; encourages and develops medical research activities.
- Chairs the Global Medical Executive meetings and the Global Medical Directors meetings.
- Collaborates with Chief of Medicine-U.S on general medical and scientific practices, policies and procedures.

- Global Medical Directors Committee
- Africa Operations Committee
- Latin American Operations Committee
- Asia Pacific Operations Committee
- Participation in Bureau Meetings as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages subordinate supervisor(s). Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with AHF’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Doctorate degree (M.D., D.O. for U.S candidates only) or equivalent
- Must have at least 7 years of HIV/AIDS clinical experience
- Managerial skills and 7 years of leadership experience; medical administration and medical staff supervisory experience required
- Research and Organizational Development experience
- 5 years of international work experience preferred
COMPUTER/SOFTWARE SKILLS & ABILITIES
Proficiency in word processing and Internet access.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to travel internationally as required
- Willing to accept assignments requiring off-hour support as required
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS
- Valid licensure as a medical doctor in country of origin
- Valid DEA certificate or equivalent if applicable in country of origin
