Claims Specialist



 



 

Position Summary:

This Claims position supports the Physicians at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center.  Based within the billing group of The Children's University Medical Group (CUMG), this position reports to the Manager of Patient Services and is responsible for follow-up with various commercial insurers, state and federal plans.







 

Position Responsibilites:





 

-Responds in writing or by telephone to correspondence and telephone inquiries from insurnce companies or agencies regarding claims.  Follows through with the appropriate disposition of the request.

 

-Responsible for claims follow-up until claims are properly adjudicated.

 

-Work assigned work queues.

 

-Receives and responds to specifid questions in writing or by telephone concerning claims, claims processing, and follow-up from CUMG Physicians.

 

-Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Required Qualifications:



-Able to complete detail-oriented work in a timely manner.

 

-One year experience with CPT procedures codes, medical terminology and billing procedures.

 

-Demonstrated knowledge of PC's and networks.

 

-Experience in Windows NT or 95/98, MS Word, and Excel.

 

-Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to convey a positive and professional image in person, on the telephone and in correspondence.

 

-Ability to follow all CUMG policies regarding security and confidentiality.

 

-High school diploma or GED.
