Clinical Applications Development Team Leader

Development Team Leader – Application Development

 

Our client, a large healthcare facility is seeking to staff a TEAM LEADER role in their Northshore facility.  This position reports to an IS Director and is responsible for management of resources in the application development group. 

 

This role is PERM, FULL TIME and offers a competitive salary and EXCELLENT benefits.The incumbent will report to our client’s Corporate Manager of Application Services (IS Director). He/She will serve in a leadership role to support our client’s clinical, financial and administrative systems, and work in collaboration with the business owners, stakeholders, user community, vendors, and IS to align IT with our client’s strategic and operational goals and initiatives. Supported systems include Siemens Invision, ancillary and department-specific applications, and application integration points. S/He will also be responsible for managing direct reports. Work responsibilities may include the management of one or more large organization or enterprise-wide projects, and the resources associated with these projects as well as managing staff assigned in a highly-matrixed management structure. Responsibilities:

  Work closely with hospital management, project managers and/or end-users to define business needs, develop project approach, scope and work-plans to meet both system and operational objectives Develop IT strategies and solutions that comply with IS AND our client’s standards and strategic directions Estimate capital and operating funding requirements associated with a project. Manage project within allocated budget Plan, manage and over-see project, utilizing recognized project management methodology including activities such as:

Ø       Definition of project scope and objectives

Ø       Management and status reporting tools

Ø       Feasibility and cost benefit studies

Ø       Requirements definition (functional and/or technical)

Ø       System testing/quality assurance

Ø       Training

Ø       Implementation

Ø       Post-implementation/on-going support

Ø       Project administrative activities Documentation

·         Complete work assignments in accordance with an established project timeline

·         Manage IS projects within the context of the larger environment including competing priorities, staffing levels, budgetary concerns. Provide appropriate and timely problem escalation reporting (and potential solutions if applicable) to both IS management and project steering committee

·         Provide on-going project status reports to internal IS management, user groups and project steering committee

·         Assign/delegate project assignments as appropriate. Provide project-specific direction and guidance to project team members to facilitate timely and quality results

·         Monitor quality of work performed by team members throughout the project lifecycle

·         Establish and create a positive team environment through leadership and mentoring

·         Work with staff members to develop an individualized professional development path with clear goals and objectives

·         Conduct annual performance evaluations (merit) for all direct reports in a timely manner

·         Function as a member of the IS management team

·         Communicate relevant information and policies to direct reports and customers

·         Provide quality customer service, on-going communication, feedback and follow-through with customers/peers

 

Qualifications

 

·         Bachelors Degree required

·         Eight or more years experience in computer systems or healthcare required

·         Three or more years experience in team supervision required

Requirements: Strong staff management, staff development and interpersonal skills Strong project management skills Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal skills Ability to cooperatively and effectively work with people from all organizational levels and build consensus through negotiation and diplomacy Ability to understand the work environment and competing priorities in conjunction with developing/meeting project goals Ability to plan and manage projects, staff, other resources and timelines; and to prioritize and delegate accordingly Strong PC skills required, knowledge of PC applications, e.g., Microsoft Office Suite and Project, PowerPoint preferred Ability to facilitate and work within a complex, multi-site environment.
