Summary of Position Description:

This requisition is not currently assigned to a unit and the hours will be determined at time of hiring. In order to process your application please indicate your 1st, 2nd & 3rd choice of units.

Flexibility Will Be Required For Unit Availability And Shifts Hours .

Responsible for continual assessment, planning, intervention, documentation, and evaluation of the effects of comprehensive nursing care to meet the changing needs of the patients, families, and/or groups. Care delivery begins with the initial contact with the health care system and may continue across a continuum. Services may be provided on an inpatient, outpatient, or community basis.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

1. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine.

2. Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of the theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing. BS degree in Nursing preferred.

3. Completion of Level I usually achieved within six months.

4. Evidence of 12 hours of professional continuing education per year to maintain a competent level of practice.

5. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families and other health care providers.

6. Knowledge of standards, policies, procedures and organizational structure of the unit, Nursing Services and the institution.

7. Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving patients and/or families, and coordinate care for managing same.
