Job Details: JOB SUMMARY: The clinical psychologist in the Rady Children's Autism Intervention performs a variety of professional work including primary responsibility for program supervision for toddlers with autism in the Children's Toddler School inclusion program and for the home visitation portion of the program, psychometric and diagnostic testing, family counseling, and consultation with colleagues including supervision of non-licensed staff, pediatricians, and community organizations. Responsibilities will include training program staff in treatment/intervention strategies including but not limited to pivotal response training (PRT), DIR- Floortime, discrete trial (DT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and Picture Exchange Communication (PECs); completion of intake assessments for typically developing children and those at-risk for autism entering the program; development of program goals for toddler at-risk for ASD; supervision of parent-education program; monitoring of programming for individual children and the program as a whole and completion of exit assessments including diagnostic evaluations of at-risk children and program recommendations. The position also involves conducting individual parent education/training and may include conducting parent support/information groups, social skills groups and training/consultation for hospital and community organizations. Responsibilities may also include diagnostic evaluation of children with history of prematurity, various neurological and neuromuscular disorders, child abuse, prenatal drug exposure, and emotional disturbance, including Autism and ADHD. Support in research activities, grant writing, and data management is required. Opportunities for more extensive research responsibilities, presentation at scientific conferences and publication are available. Responds differentially to children based upon child's age and understanding of the child's developmental level/disability(ies). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a doctorate degree in clinical, developmental, or educational psychology with major emphasis on intervention for young children with autism and child development License in the State of California is required within first year of hire Competency in diagnostic developmental assessment specifically of infants and toddlers with a minimum of two years experience in performing assessments on children under three is required Two years experience using autism-specific interventions and providing intervention for developmentally delayed and disabled children is required Recent experience in a pediatric setting (within the last two years) is required Knowledge of and competency with the following: Bayley Scales of Infant Development II. Mullen Scales of Early Learning. Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales. Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and other specific instruments required. Demonstrated ability to maintain and manage caseload, complete records in timely manner; provide education and consultation to a variety of community services; and to work effectively and harmoniously with professional and clerical personnel Additionally, candidates must be able to respond differentially to children based upon the child's age and understanding of the child's developmental level and disability Must also seek to be informed of cultural differences and to respond appropriately to the diverse cultures served by the clinic.
