Clinical Quality Improvement Analyst I
The Clinical Quality Improvement Analyst I position leads and coaches quality improvement efforts, supports hospital and administrative data requests, and performs data collection and analysis. The Clinical Quality Improvement Analyst I works with various cardiovascular clinical databases such as the Society of Thoracic (STS) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) databases. The Clinical Quality Improvement Analyst I assists with collecting, tracking, and trending outcomes data. Coordinates Cardiac Surgery STS/ACC data collection, and is able to identify quality and process issues. Reports information to the BHCS Cardiac Surgery Committees, the BHCS Institute for Health Care Research and Improvement, physicians, administration, and other cardiac surgery stakeholders as needed. Leads Quality Improvement teams in Cardiovascular Surgery and other related areas. Coaches multi-disciplinary teams of physicians, nurses, and administrators in established BHCS quality improvement methods. Based on established quality indicators, identifies and understands opportunities for improvement in Cardiovascular Surgery and other related areas. Draws insightful impressions from objective data, “human intelligence” and other forms of investigation to identify process and organizational culture issues in need of improvement. Develops data base queries, reports, and presentations for the cardiac surgery committee, best care groups, individual hospitals, and physicians. Provides accurate and timely abstracts all Society of Thoracic Surgery data and other selected variables from the patient’s medical record. Maintains familiarity with software and databases (STS/ACC), and provides training to other staff as needed. Works in tandem with the Institute for Health Care Research and Improvement analytics teams by participating in trending clinical outcomes data with regard to STS/ACC databases. Coordinates with the hospitals Health Information Management Departments to assure patient information is ready for review in a timely manner. Travels between hospitals in an efficient manner to maximize productivity. REQUIREMENTS Significant and demonstrated experience in health care quality improvement is required. Experience and strong capability in effective communication with physicians, clinical staff, executives and managers at both the system and individual facility levels is required. RN with at least two years of cardiac care experience. While hospital-based nursing experience is essential, understanding of ambulatory care and procedural nursing is also useful. A Bachelors degree in nursing would contribute to success in this position, and is desirable.
