Clinical Supervisor—TCPA

Texas Children’s Hospital

Purpose:
To supervise and direct clinical staff and to gather information, assess and provide direct care to patients.

Knowledge and Skills: Fundamental knowledge of pediatric assessment and treatment.

 Knowledge of related OSHA, CLIA and JCAHO guidelines and requirements, general office tasks, confidentiality and filing system. 

 Ability to use thermometer, scales, sphygmomanometer/stethoscope, scalp vein needles, hearing/vision screening equipment, pulse oximetry, typanometer, basic laboratory, i.e., microscope, centrifuge, hematology analyzer, and specimen collection. 

 Proficiency with treatments such as nebulizer, ear irrigation and dressing changes.

 Excellent customer service skills and proficiency in typing, filing and using a multi-line telephone, computer, fax, copier and adding machine.

 

Formal Education, License and Experience Required: HS graduate, GED or equivalent. 

 Graduation from an accredited school of medical assisting or school of licensed vocational nursing, respectively. 

 Current license/permit to practice vocational nursing in the State of Texas for LVNs.  Formal clinical experience may be substituted for MA diploma. 

 CPR certification to be current within 60 days of hire date. 

 At least one year of clinical experience is required, and at least one year of supervisory experience is preferred.
