Caring for the people who care—Methodist Healthcare.  CodersMethodist Healthcare San Antonio, Texas Responsibilities include:·  Thoroughly reviewing all inpatient and/or outpatient medical record documentation prior to assigning diagnosis and procedure codes utilizing AHA coding guidelines, ICD-9-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding conventions. Inputting data into the patient information abstract system. Initiating appropriate physician documentation (query) forms as indicated based on review of medical records and requesting the need for further physician documentation.Qualifications for Inpatient/Outpatient Coder include: ·  HS diploma or equivalent is required.·  At least 3 years of current acute care hospital and outpatient coding experience is required.·  Education and training through an accredited coding program is required. ·  Knowledge of 3M coding software preferred. ·  New grads will not be considered for this position, experience required. Qualifications for Inpatient Coder include: ·  RHIT/RHIA eligible or HS graduate with completed coursework in Human Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Pathophysiology/Disease Processes, Intro to Coding (including ICD-9 and CPT).·  RHIA, RHIT, CCS preferred.·  At least 1 year of acute care hospital inpatient coding experience is required.·  Education and training through an accredited coding program is required. ·  Knowledge of 3M coding software preferred.  Qualifications for Outpatient Coder include: ·  RHIT/RHIA eligible or HS graduate with completed coursework in Human Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Pathophysiology/Disease Processes, Intro to Coding (including ICD-9 and CPT).·  RHIA, RHIT, CCS preferred.·  At least 1 year of acute care hospital outpatient coding experience is required.·  Education and training through an accredited coding program is required. ·  Knowledge of 3M coding software preferred.About Methodist Healthcare:The Methodist Healthcare System brings together 15 of San Antonio's most respected health care facilities to employ more than 7,000 people.
